About Charlotte

Charlotte is a science writer and editor with a graduate-level foundation in research science and writing with a strong background in environmental policy and politics. She has a broad portfolio, ranging from programmatic writing, strategic planning, and state- and regional-level technical reports to more creative articles, essays, documentary scripts, and children’s books. Over the last fifteen years, she has written for NOAA, USC Sea Grant, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, California Ocean Science Trust, and the Wood River Land Trust. She has published freelance pieces in The Center for Humans and Nature, The Institute for Science and Policy, American Literary Review, UNDARK, The Chestnut Review, Under the Gum Tree, Oceanography Magazine, and The New York Times Online.

Charlotte has an M.S. and B.S. in Biology from Stanford University and an M.A. in Science Writing from Johns Hopkins University, where she won the David Everett Award. She was also awarded a 2006 National John A. Knauss Legislative Marine Policy Fellowships in Washington, D.C.
